Cycles Gladiator Merlot

Cycles Gladiator Merlot

Although the weekend was punctuated primarily by primeval screams from my two year old, asserting that yes he wanted and did not want my presence, simultaneously, it was not all a loss. Considering I didn’t get much sleep, I did figure out that a) I am certainly going to do NaNoWriMo next month, something I have never done (and which will require a complete hiatus from editing The Aldersgate) and b) I actually have a whole novel idea. Yes, a novel. A standalone, fantasy/Neo-Victorian/alternate history/steampunk/sci-fi somethingorother that’s really, honestly, quite exciting. Up until this point I didn’t have a clear idea of what I’d be doing, an was considering rehashing another novel I’d been working on a few years ago. But no, this is the One. This will be good.

Unfortunately, as I’m wont to do, I also spent an entire night awake in bed, plotting and planning the entirety of said novel. I’m a bit like a hamster on a wheel when I have a new idea, and most times, can’t give my own self a break. The situation is made all the more difficult by my lack of outlining, writing down, etc. I just store, store, store, store… like a weird little hard-drive up there.

Anyway. Now I have merlot. Merlot that is good.

Tomorrow begins 2008 Job Search Extravaganza week 2. Unfortunately there aren’t a whole lot “full time fantasy/steampunk writer” jobs available… but, here’s hoping.
